Oval Blue-Green Tourmaline Gemstone Sterling Silver Pendant

The color of this 10 x 8 mm, 2.8 carat, blue-green tourmaline gemstone evokes memories of tropical waters. However, it owes its discovery to a group of Mainers on the hunt for gem tourmaline crystals at the Dunton Quarry Pegmatite, Newry Maine. Their success in 1972-1974 led to the biggest discovery of gem tourmaline crystals in Maine's history and has been called the "Big Find". The gemstone in this pendant was faceted from one of the Big Find crystals. The simple setting of Sterling Silver allows the gemstone to shine.
