Many times when meteorites fall to Earth, they aren't seen.  But in 1947, a meteorite exploded over the Sikhote-Alin mountain range in Russia and left many smaller pieces scattered around the range. It was as bright as the Sun and happened at 10:30 am and was seen by many. This 2 -1/4 inch long pendant features one of those pieces.

Classified as an iron meteorite, it's composed of primarily iron and nickel.  Wires of 14k yellow gold have been welded to the fragment to mimic the fireball.
